Background
Lendlease Corporation (ASX: LLC) was founded in Sydney in 1958 by Dutch-born engineer Dick Dusseldorp, initially financing works for its associated construction company Civil & Civic, and listed on the ASX in 1962. Over more than 60 years it has grown into an international property and infrastructure group operating across Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas, spanning development, investment, construction and asset management. As an ASX-listed blue chip, its financials and governance are highly transparent (public annual reports). In recent years the company has shifted strategy to focus on its Australian business. Lendlease is renowned for large urban renewal precincts, including Barangaroo South, Darling Square and the International Convention Centre Sydney, plus Elephant & Castle (London) and Paya Lebar Quarter (Singapore); historically it also completed the Sydney Opera House podium works.
